Wie in diesem Readme angegeben, wird empfohlen, die Android-Sensoren Tiefpassfilter. Wird dies auch für den TYPE_ROTATION_VECTOR-Sensor empfohlen, bei dem es sich um einen Software-Sensor handelt?

Ja. Du musst es tun. Bei einigen Geräten wird der Tiefpassfilter nicht auf Software-Sensoren angewendet:
